As I mentioned in reply to a comment on the new dressage jacket colors post, I saw some really beautiful jacket color combinations when I was in New Zealand in 2007. Not in the dressage arena, but in the Hunter Hack classes.
Hunter Hacks are shown only on the flat in New Zealand. They go in a manner that is somewhere between lower level dressage and our own hunter flat classes: the horses should have “substance and good bone” and appear to be pleasant to ride from place to place. The riders use a dressage saddle, and often show in a double bridle. Those browbands? Works of art, made of velvet and silk, studded with Swarovski crystal. Some of you will be lusting after them, I’m sure! I’ve found a few photos from those classes that show some lovely color combinations between jacket, accessories and horse, many of which would be appropriate in our new, (subtly) colorful world of dressage fashion. There are no tailcoats in this gallery, but I promise, I did not make these colors up on the computer or enhance them in any way.
Enjoy the slide show!
