When I’m very lucky and happen to be in town, I attend my friend Jacqueline Nicolini’s Painting Workshops at her Ubiquitous Bee gallery. Jacqueline was a model when I first met her, and now she trains and books some of the best artists’ models in Southern California, so we’re always guaranteed to have someone fabulous to paint. Today was no exception: Jacqueline set up an Egon Schiele inspired costumed pose for the amazing and beautiful Brooke.
Here’s the study I painted this morning. It’s an oil sketch on an 11×14 linen panel:
Jacqueline is an all-around artist. She does portraits, landscapes and still life, and even does the occasional sculpture. You can see her work at the Ubiquitous Bee website (linked above).
Next Sunday, June 1, we’ll both be participating in the California Art Club’s Quarterly Paint Out. The San Diego location will be in Balboa Park, and we’ll be starting around 9:00 am – come out and watch artists paint en plein air!
