Meet Tinto
Seeing as the blog was Tinto’s idea in the first place, I thought you might like to meet him in person.
Tinto is a Lakeland Terrier. He’s about the same size as a wire haired fox terrier, but a little more laid back. I of course use the term “laid back” in a relative way — he is, after all a terrier. His registered name is Cherry Creek’s Tintoretto. We called him Tinto first, after our favorite drink, red wine (vino tinto in Spanish), and Tintoretto was a way of legitimizing it. He’s registered as “red” but he’s never gotten any darker than apricot.
He’s learned to be an office spud during the day while I’m working on photos or a painting, but he’s always ready. For anything. If I so much as twitch, he’s already at the door with his hopeful face on. For as far as I can see, Tinto believes that there are only two places: Here and Somewhere Else. Here is just fine, but Somewhere Else is bound to be better! Fortunately, he’s an excellent traveler: we open the door to his box in the car and he climbs in and goes to sleep. At 3 years old he’s a Dressage Celebrity: folks at the California shows see him before they notice Axel or me!

Lovely to see Tinto, my cousin Kit bred him. She would be so proud that he is a dressage groupie….
Our Jack Russell, Billy (the Kid), gets more recognition than Peter and I do. He’s a favorite in our dressage crowd.
